Last Day For Us

Today was our final day in Guatemala. We got the chance to go to a zoo with some of the kids. We got to see many animals that were very interesting to watch moving around. The kids got to play on the playground and we took some pictures. After that we got home and got to play and then we had dinner. During dinner, we got to see a slideshow that depicted the time that we had at the home. Then we all got pictures of us and kids and then called it a night.

Antigua Day

Today the team got to go to a breakfast buffet before our tourism. We got to tour many monuments and great places of Antigua especially Pollo Campero. After lunch we had gotten to shop at the market for jerseys, blankets and much more. Then we got home and played with the kids and then ate hot dogs for dinner. After dinner we played a little while longer and then called it a night.

Final Work Day

Today we had our final work day which consisted of us do landscaping. We had to cut vines out of the barbed wire. It wasn't fun but we were able to get it done as well as digging a ditch. We were told that if we got all of the work done before lunch, then we got to take the rest of the day off. We ended up getting everything done and then after lunch we all took naps. After that we got to play with the kids, we had dinner, played some more, and called it a night.

Work Day 4

Today we finally finished the boys dorms. We were all able to paint the last room that needed it and then we all started the landscaping. We started the landscaping and will hopefully finish it all tomorrow on our last work day. After we finished work, those who sponsor kids got to give the kids gifts and talk to them. Then we ate dinner and played some more and the Lee and Stacy gave us a little background on the home and some of the kids.

Work Day 3

Today we had our third work day which consisted of us painting the rest of the little boys dorms and starting the big boys dorms and some people also starting some landscaping. We were able to get a lot of the big boys dorm done and we will be finishing it tomorrow so we will then be landscaping. After we were done with work we got the joy of playing with the kids and just hanging out after a long day. We had dinner which was macaroni and cheese with beans and then played with the kids. At the end of the night, Chris and Jonathon were playing worship music with everyone singing along in their own languages. We all had a blast and can't wait for tomorrow to come.

Sunday Funday

Today we got to experience the Homes church. It was a non-denominational church with a Spanish preacher. The team got a device in which they could hear someone translating the message and got a lot out of it. After that we had lunch and played with the kids until visitation hours started and the kids went to see their families. After that we played some more and then had dinner. After dinner we were able to sing while Chris and Jonathon played guitar and drums and the kids really enjoyed it. We then called it a night and did our devotions in order to break down the day. We will continue painting the boys dorms tomorrow and looking for more opportunities to spread Gods love.

Work Day 2

Today we had our second day of work which was spraying down columns that had bat guano all over them and trimming down trees and bushes. We also got to celebrate three birthdays today two of which being children from the home and one being our very own Micah Davis who turned 17. We all celebrated with firecrackers and ice cream after dinner. We were again able to play with the kids by jump roping, playing tetherball, and just playing catch the hat. By the end of the day we are all tired and ready to go to bed and start a new day of playing with the kids.

Day 1 Of Work

Today we started our first day of work which was painting the little boys dorms. We painted their rooms and started painting their living room. We got to see the kids reactions to the painted rooms and they were excited to see it. After that we got cleaned up and hung out with the kids for a little while and then ate dinner. After that we played with the kids again and we watched some of their soccer team practice. We are all having fun and we continue looking for more opportunities from God to show His love for us and to show our love for the kids.

We Have Arrived!

The July team left the Servants building on Wednesday, July 5 2017. We made it safely to the Dulles airport and got our tickets and made it through security without any troubles and made it to the gate safely. We boarded the plane and we were off for Panama airport. We made it without any problems then we got off and basically got on the next flight that had a stop at San Jose and then it went to Guatemala airport without any troubles. We were picked up by Lee and we made it to the Home safely after around 8 hours of flying. We are all at the Home safely and we are very excited to see what God has in store for us through this trip and getting to know the rest of the team as well as showing Gods love and our love to the kids. The kids are very happy that we are here and they are excited to hang out and play with us. We start our first actual day of work tomorrow around the home so we are excited to see the opportunities that God will present us with in order to spread His word.

It was a great last day at NLCH. Tomorrow we head to Antigua bright and early in the morning for sight seeing and shopping. We completed the kitchen by late morning. The sewing projects were completed this evening. We even got to squeeze in an extra project in; the old sand with yucky stuff in it was removed from the sandbox, new plastic laid and new sand filled in. The kids were in it by the afternoon....big kids first:) 

Tonight we got to share how we saw God at work this week. He was very busy!
